In 1971, Daisuke Inoue developed a tape recording machine in Japan, that would play one of his songs for 100 yen. It turns out folks liked to sing along with Inoue, so he leased these machines to restaurants & hotels. The trend spread throughout Asia, with My Way being one of the most popular songs.
